Brandon Jacobs frustrated with situation in San Francisco

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing to host the New York Giants in a rematch of last season’s NFC Championship Game and Brandon Jacobs very much wants to face his former team.

But the 49ers running back isn’t sure where he stands as he has been sidelined with a knee injury suffered in preseason and has yet to appear in the regular season. Jacobs thought he was ready to roll last week but was inactive again for a victory over the Buffalo Bills.

"I feel great. I feel phenomenal,” Jacobs said, according to Mike Garafolo of USA Today. “My leg is as fresh as yours."

The Giants cut Jacobs after he and the club could not come to terms on a salary restructuring. Now, he’s frustrated.

"Oh, very,” Jacobs said, per the report. “Because I don't know anything. I don't know what's what," he said. "But I'm hanging in there, I'm working every day, doing what I have to do. Let's say I'm just working and doing what I have to do and that's that.

"I've learned over the years when you open your mouth and say certain things, it hurts you, so I'm just going to shut up and keep working."

He admitted he would be disappointed if he doesn’t play Sunday but said “it’s not my call.”

Jacobs is a role player in the 49ers offense. They have a proven workhorse back in Frank Gore and he’s going to play a small role when he’s healthy and ready in the eyes of the coaches. We’ll see if he gets his way this week.
