Brandon Underwood still sticking around with Packers
Many figured Brandon Underwood was a goner earlier this summer when the Green Bay Packers defensive back got into hot water for a domestic incident involving his wife following the team’s Super Bowl ring ceremony.
Underwood, a sixth-round draft pick from Cincinnati in 2009, had gotten in trouble the summer before after a rendezvous with prostitutes at a summer resort.
But he’s sticking around and as Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says he’s “still on (the) roster because of bountiful athletic gifts and dimensions. He is to play tons tonight. It is his chance.”
Underwood, 6-1, 193 pounds, intercepted Cleveland’s Colt McCoy earlier in preseason. The Packers play the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium tonight. He played primarily on special teams during his first two seasons and there could be an opportunity for a larger role if he produces.
