Brandon Weeden won't need thumb surgery

Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden doesn't need to have surgery for his sprained right thumb, according to ESPN>

Although Weeden is out for this week and Brian Hoyer will start in his place, he could be back as soon as next week.

Weeden hit his thumb on offensive guard John Greco's helmet during a 14-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and was placed by Jason Campbell, who's been leapfrogged by Hoyer.

"You never want to get hurt," Weeden told Cleveland reporters. "I don't care when it is, could be the 16th game or the first game, as a player, you want to be out there. So yeah, it is frustrating. Even though the results weren't there offensively, we were starting to do some better things."
