Breaking down Demaryius Thomas' $70 million contract
Denver Broncos Pro Bowl wide receiver Demaryius Thomas' five-year, $70 million contract includes an $11 million signing bonus, a $4 million option bonus and $43.5 million in guaranteed money, according to a league source.
Thomas has a $4.5 million base salary that's fully guaranteed for skill, injury and salary cap and a $13.2 million salary-cap figure. It has no offset language.
There's a $6.5 million roster bonus due on July 20 with $3.5 million of the signing bonus deferred until March 15, 2016 and $3.5 million of the roster bonus deferred until March 15, 2016.
In 2016, Thomas has a $13 million base salary fully guaranteed with no offset language and a $15.2 million salary-cap figure.
In 2017, Thomas has a $8.5 million base salary guaranteed for injury only at signing and skill and salary cap if he's on the roster on the fifth day of the 2016 league year and no offset language and a $12.033 million salary-cap figure. The $4 million option bonus is due in 2017 and may be exercised between five days after the 2017 league year and the first day prior to the 2018 league year.
In 2018, Thomas has a $8.5 million nonguaranteed base salary and a $12.033 million salary-cap figure
In 2019, Thomas has a $14 million nonguaranteed base salary and a $17.533 million salary-cap figure.
