Breaking down Thomas Davis' $18 million extension

Carolina Panthers veteran linebacker Thomas Davis' $18 million contract extension includes a $9 million signing bonus, according to a league source.
The two-year extension includes $11.5 million in guaranteed money. The deal was negotiated by Atlanta-based agent Todd France.
In 2015, Davis has a $5.9 million salary-cap figure. He has a $1 million guaranteed base salary and a $250,000 workout bonus in addition to his $9 million signing bonus.
In 2016, Davis has a $6.75 million salary-cap figure. He's due a $2.75 million base salary, of which $1.5 million is guaranteed for injury only
He has a roster bonus of $31,250 per game active, up to $500,000. He also has a $250,000 workout bonus. In 2017, Davis has a $7.5 million salary-cap figure. He's due a $3.25 million base salary and has a $46,875 per game active roster bonus, up to $750,000. He has a $250,000 workout bonus.
