Brett Favre went to see Dr. James Andrews
It’s just about time to you-know-what or get off the pot for Brett Favre.
The quarterback traveled from Hattiesburg, Miss., to Penascola, Fla., today to have his balky left ankle examined by Dr. James Andrews, the surgeon who worked on it in May, according to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
A decision from Favre is expected in the near future, per the report. The key will be what Andrews told Favre after examining him. Favre has said that the ankle is still bothering him.
Favre told some teammates that he was hanging ’em up last week only for the club to put a full-court press on him in efforts to talk him out of it. The Vikings implored him to take more time and also boosted the $13 million he was set to earn this season to $20 million, including incentives. His base pay, if he plays, will be $1 million per game.
The Vikings have closed shop in Mankato, Minn., their summer home. He was expected to arrive there this summer anyway. Some of speculated Favre could put off a comeback until October. That seems less likely. Soon, he will have to make a call one way or the other.
