Brian Westbrook situation still fluid
The curious case of Brian Westbrook continues to hang in the balance.
ESPN’s John Clayton reported on Saturday that the veteran running back would be signing with the St. Louis Rams on Monday. The Rams have refused to confirm that and there are other teams that could be in play for him, including the
Over The Hill Gang II Washington Redskins.
“No real update,” Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said today, according to NFL.com. “I talked to Brian before I went on vacation because him and I have a good relationship. Then every once in a while we’ll text back and forth, but nothing concrete right now.”
The Rams would like a backup for Steven Jackson, and Westbrook would be an ideal third-down back for rookie quarterback Sam Bradford. The Redskins could remain interested in Westbrook and someone else could be in play.
We’re still not going to be surprised if Clayton is on the money and Westbrook is a Ram sometime tomorrow.
