Britt admits he was down on himself in 2012

Kenny Britt says he feels like he is back to where he was before he shreded his right knee in a game in 2011.

But Britt tells TitanInsider.com that there were times last year when he began to doubt himself and whether he would ever feel as good as he did before the injury. Britt tore his ACL and MCL in his right knee in September 2011 agains Denver. Then, before last season began, he had a second clean-up procedure on that knee and a procedure for meniscus problem on his left knee, something that bothered him more than his right knee last year.

“I had two more surgeries, including one on my left knee. I didn't know that was gonna happen. I got down on myself throughout last year in the season, because I was having problems with it. It took me a whole year to get back to where I was, but I'm healthy right now,” Britt said.

Britt said he noticed his knees returning to normal this summer when he was home in New Jersey playing pickup basketball on asphalt outdoor courts with friends. While that's probably not the most advisable thing for a professional athlete to do, it nonetheless restored Britt's confidence in his body and himself.

“It was a game of basketball, and I wasn't thinking about my knees, and it's a game where you've got to stop and go every five seconds, and it's and down on the hard blacktop, but me playing a couple of games out there with friends let me know, 'Hey, I'm back to myself''” Britt said.

The Titans just have to hope that Britt says that way for the entire 2013 season.
