Broncos' Derek Wolfe carted off with spinal injury

Denver Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe is being evaluated for a cervical spine injury after being taken away via ambulance for an injury sustained against the Seattle Seahawks.

Wolfe has movement in all his extremities, according to a statement from the Broncos.

Later, Broncos coach John Fox offered an encouraging update on Wolfe.

"CT scan was positive and right now we're waiting on an MRI so, so far all the news is good," Fox told reporters. "So far the reports we've gotten are positive in the sense that there are no broken bones."

Wolfe was injured in the first quarter.while playing defensive end and was hit by two blockers in the lower and upper portion of his body, getting blocked in the neck area.

The Broncos later issued the following statement early this morning: "He was evaluated for a cervical spine injury and underwent several tests, including X-ray, CT and MRI scans. All tests were negative, and he will accompany the team on its flight back to Denver."
