Broncos hire Wade Phillips as defensive coordinator
The Denver Broncos have hired Wade Phillips as defensive coordinator.
Phillips was Broncos coach Gary Kubiak's defensive coordinator with the Houston Texans.
Phillips got the job after the Cincinnati Bengals wouldn't let secondary coach Vance Joseph take the job.
The Broncos hired former Minnesota Vikings defensive backs coach Joe Woods as secondary coach.
Phillips was the Texans' interim coach when Kubiak got fired in Houston.
Phillips was the Broncos head coach in 1993 and 1994 and was fired after going 7-9 in 1994. Phillips had been the Broncos' defensive coordinator from 1989 to 1992.
