Broncos new QB controversy: Tebow vs. Quinn
The talk of trading Kyle Orton has died down for the Denver Broncos, as the veteran is now firmly entrenched again as the starter.
Now, the talk – or lack of it – has centered around exactly where last year's first-round pick Tim Tebow fits into the Broncos quarterback pecking order.
Is he still the No. 2 quarterback behind Orton, or has Coach John Fox decided to go with former Notre Dame star Brady Quinn as his top backup, dropping the work-in-progress Tebow to third on the depth chart?
The matter is enough of that Fox isn't tipping his hand regarding his quarterback rotation for tonight's game with the Buffalo Bills.
"From a competitive standpoint, we can talk about that after the game," Fox told the Associated Press, "not before the game."
That in an of itself is news, since lots of coaches readily spell out how the playing time will be divvied up in advance during preseason games that are always more about evaluation than winning.
Stay tuned. Orton is the winner in the quarterback derby, but the battle to see who places and shows between Tebow and Quinn is still on.
