Broncos sign Fua, IR Vickerson

The Denver Broncos signed defensive tackle Sione Fua and placed defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson on injured reserve with a dislocated hip.

Fua is a third-year player who saw action in 27 games with a dozen starts for Carolina over the last three seasons after being drafted by the Panthers in the third round in 2011. He has 32 career tackles and one forced fumble.

He started 11 games as a rookie in 2011 before being sidelined by a hamstring injury late in the season. Fua was waived by Carolina on Nov. 12.

A second-team All-Pacific 10 Conference selection at Stanford University, Fua played 50 career games and had 80 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, nine sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
