Broncos stadium gets a new name
The Denver Broncos are keeping up with the times and in doing that they’ve slapped a new name on their building.
Invesco Field at Mile High has a new name. It is now known as Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
Yep, it seems like a long time ago (and an old building ago) that we called it Mile High Stadium. The deal was approved Tuesday in a unanimous vote by the Metropolitan Football Stadium District.
Sports Authority takes over the remaining term of the 20-year deal Invesco struck with the Broncos in 2001, which runs through July 2021, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post. A longer deal could be struck soon. Per the agreement, Sports Authority will pay $6 million annually for the naming rights. Half goes to the Broncos and half goes to the stadium authority, which builds funds for capital projects.
