Browns' attention focused on Richardson
Both Alabama and Texas A&M held their respective pro days on Thursday, and at least one Browns beat writer doesn't think it was a coincidence that two of the top men in the Cleveland braintrust both descended upon Tuscaloosa, Ala., instead of College Station, Texas.
Coach Pat Shurmur and GM Tom Heckert were both in Alabama, says ESPNCleveland's Tony Grossi, checking out Trent Richardson to see if he is worth the fourth overall pick, rather than watching Aggies QB Ryan Tannehill, who has been linked to the Browns as well.
“I’m not going to talk about my five guys (in the running). He is an outstanding player … he’s been very productive on a team that’s won a lot of games," Shurmur said of Richardson while trying his best not to tip his hand.
The Browns are not opposed to selecting a quarterback to compete or eventually succeed Colt McCoy, but they also have to consider surrounding McCoy with more playmakers first before completely abandoning him.
