Browns hand starting QB reins to Weeden
Cleveland Browns coach Pat Shurmur made official Monday what had been speculated ever since the club drafted Brandon Weeden.
The rookie from Oklahoma State will be the Browns starting quarterback this year, says Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
The Browns selected Weeden 22nd overall in the draft and had plans for him to start all along, though there was a thinly veiled "competition" publicly between Weeden and last year's starter, Colt McCoy.
McCoy said he thought there would be a competition, but he never got any first-team reps. Now, the question for him becomes whether he fits into the Browns' plans at all. There had been speculation earlier that there might not be room for both McCoy and No. 3 QB Seneca Wallace on the roster in Cleveland.
