Browns players had intervention with Hillis
Peyton Hillis' season continues to spiral downward into the football abyss.
How had has it gotten? Well, not only did the running back re-injure his hamstring on Friday, now comes a report from Yahoo's Michael Silver that eight of Hillis' teammates held a "clear-the-air" intervention type session with him earlier this week to try and reshape his focus back on football and away from his contract issue.
“I’ve never seen anything like it. Last year, Peyton was such a positive, inspirational force on our team – but now he’s like a different guy. It’s like he’s in a funk that he can’t get out of, and it’s killing us, because we really need him. And we’ve told him that. But we’re at the point where we just don’t know what to do,” said one anonymous (aren't they always?) Browns veteran of the running back.
Hillis told Silver that he does not believe he has any problems with his teammates or locker room relationships, but Silver indicated that some of the Browns players indicated otherwise, saying his contract distraction has hindered his focus on football.
News also came out earlier this week that Hillis had skipped a charity Halloween function earlier this week, which certainly won't gain him any sympathy points in the eyes of fans or the Browns organization.
All in all, Hillis was a surprise selection for the Madden '12 cover, and now it looks as if the biggest surprise may be how quickly he has fallen victim to the Madden Curse.
