Browns promote Tori Gurley, cut Dennis Johnson

The Cleveland Browns have released undrafted rookie running back Dennis Johnson and promoted well-traveled wide receiver Tori Gurley from the practice squad to the active roster.

Gurley is a size-speed prospect, but has bounced around the NFL since playing at South Carolina.

He was last with the Ravens this offseason before joining the Browns.

Johnson was ranked behind Bobby Rainey on the depth chart.

A former Arkansas standout, the all-purpose running back rushed for 129 yards and one touchdown during the preseason.
