Browns sign Caleb Hanie

The Cleveland Browns have signed former Chicago Bears and Denver Broncos quarterback Caleb Hanie, a league source confirmed.

The Browns placed linebacker Brandon Magee on injured reserve with a pectoral injury.

The Browns needed to sign Hanie, an experienced backup, with quarterbacks Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell both dealing with concussions.

Hanie worked out for the team last week.

The Browns' only other healthy quarterback on the roster is former Dallas Cowboys practice squad member Alex Tanney.

Hanie, who has passed for three touchdowns and 10 interceptions and went 0-4 as a replacement for an injured Jay Cutler with the Bears in 2011, was with the Ravens during training camp.
