Browns to hold private workout with Kalil today
Members of the Cleveland Browns organization are holding a private workout today with University of Southern California offensive tackle Matt Kalil, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
The Browns hold the fourth overall pick in next week's draft, and have a number of directions they could go at that spot.
Kalil, the top left tackle prospect in this draft, was widely believed to be headed to the Minnesota Vikings with the third pick, but in recent days speculation has arisen that Minnesota might want to trade down or perhaps entertain other possible options with that choice.
The Browns are already set at left tackle with perennial Pro Bowler Joe Thomas, meaning Kalil would have to play right tackle if he landed in Cleveland. However, if things worked out that way, it could give the Browns one of the most formidable tackle tandems in the NFL. Kalil played some at right tackle for Southern Cal in 2009.
