Bryant McKinnie was close to 400 pounds

The Minnesota Vikings parted ways with Bryant McKinnie after Mt. McKinnie nearly tipped the scales at 400 pounds.

McKinnie refused to agree to a pay cut and the Vikings finally cut ties with the player who had been in the middle of so many problems in the past. He was a central figure in the “Love Boat” escapade and he was in a street fight in Miami three years ago. Two years ago, he blew off the Pro Bowl while tweeting that he spent much of the week at a strip joint in Miami.

The Vikings couldn’t overlook McKinnie’s issues any longer when he showed up for training camp out of shape and failed his physical and was placed on the non-football injury list. McKinnie’s cholesterol was also through the roof. He had tweeted early in the offseason that he was hiring a personal trainer.

Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports the move signals personnel boss Rick Spielman and coach Leslie Frazier aren’t going to put up with “nonsense” that derailed the team in the recent past.

The 31-year-old McKinnie will be replaced by Charlie Johnson, who was signed in free agency from the Indianapolis Colts.

"I'll definitely be ready for next season," McKinnie told TMZ.com. "That's not even a question."

Next season is a long ways off.
