Buccaneers get help at linebacker with Zac Diles
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added a versatile linebacker to the mix when they signed Zac Diles, who did not make it through final cuts with the St. Louis Rams.
Diles made 30 starts over the last four seasons for the Houston Texans but got lost in the shuffle in St. Louis, where he signed in July and was expected to compete for a starting job. Instead of giving him much of a chance, the Rams used him on scout team.
Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris coached Diles, 26, at Kansas State and he has the ability to play middle linebacker and on the outside. The Bucs released linebackers Tyrone McKenzie and Derrell Smith in final cuts.
