Buccaneers will attend funeral for Lee Roy Selmon as team
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will attend funeral services for Lee Roy Selmon as a team on Friday in nearby Lutz.
A 10 a.m. service has been scheduled for the Hall of Fame defensive end who died Sunday two days after suffering a stroke at his home in Tampa. Selmon is the only member of the Buccaneers to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
"It's very important,'' Bucs coach Raheem Morris, according to Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune. "A pillar of our community, a guy I loved being around our football team because I want my guys to be like him one day when they retire. To have that kind of a business savvy, to have that kind of a people-skills savvy, to be able to touch this community. I wish nothing but the best for my players to have a life like Lee Roy Selmon.''
