Bucs could open preseason without Ruud, Talib
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that coach Raheem Morris has elected to give linebacker Barrett Ruud and cornerback Aqib Talib a “few days off.”
Both players are nursing minor groin strains that the Bucs don’t want to turn into major issues. It makes it very possible that both will sit out Saturday’s preseason opener at Miami.
The Bucs have labeled the injuries “day-to-day” and it makes no sense to rush two of the key players on the young and rebuilding defense into action. Plus, it will provide an opportunity to further evaluate young personnel that could be on the bubble. Teams must trim rosters to 65 three weeks from today on Aug. 31.
