Bucs defense: We did nothing wrong
Lavonte David of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers said his 15-yard personal foul penalty that in essence cost his team the game against the New York Jets was simply the way the Bucs play.
"That’s the way our defense is, we just play aggressive, we just play physical,'' David told the Tampa Bay Times. "You’re going to get those calls and you may feel like that’s not the right call but you can’t do anything about it. You can’t let it change the way you play the game.''
The Bucs actually had three personal foul penalties for roughness and late hits, though David's obviously got all the attention because his out-of-bounds shove of Geno Smith put the Jets in range for Nick Folk's game-winning 48-yard field goal.
“Do I feel bad about it? No,'' said safety Mark Barron, who got one of the three fouls. "Because I was just playing football. I hate that it happened and I’m going to hate the letter that comes with it.''
