Bucs get an experienced assistant in Earnest Byner

Late in the process the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are fortunate to have landed one of the better running backs coaches in the NFL.

Earnest Byner, the longtime Cleveland Brown and a Super Bowl champion with the Washington Redskins, has been hired to Greg Schiano’s developing staff. Byner gives the Bucs some needed NFL experience on a staff that will have several assistants from the college level.

Byner played in the NFL from 1984 through 1997, and was also a member of the Baltimore Ravens. He is credited with helping develop Chris Johnson during his first two seasons in the league as an assistant with the Tennessee Titans. Byner has also worked as an assistant for the Redskins and Jacksonville Jaguars.
