Bucs going to get Blount more work
LeGarrette Blount is movin' on up like George Jefferson.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who claimed the undrafted rookie running back off waivers from the Tennessee Titans at the final cutdown, have promoted him to make Blount their goalline and short-yardage back.
The Bucs are in their bye week and they are fixing to make some changes to get their ground game going. Blount could be in position to challenge Cadillac Williams, but that is what they said about Kareem Huggins.
“It's not time for wholesale panic where you start changing the position, because I think Cadillac has played three good games," Morris said, according to Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune. "But he can do better, and we have to give him (a) blow. We can't give him 28 straight carries, so someone's got to come in and give us a spark. Someone's got to come in and make somebody miss and break off a long run."
Blount is still trying to learn the offense, and he’s also got to master the elements of blitz pickup.
“I'm not 100-percent comfortable with the offense yet, and they're not going to take a chance with that," Blount said. "They've got a quarterback here that they don't need to be getting hit, so I just have to be patient."
