Bucs make Jerramy Stevens walk the plank

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t waste any time cutting ties with Jerramy Stevens.

About 36 hours after he was arrested on charges of possessing enough marijuana to have intent to distribute, the veteran tight end was released.

The Bucs promoted Ryan Purvis from the practice squad to take Stevens’ place on the 53-man roster. Purvis, an undrafted free agent last season from Boston College, spent the majority of 2009 on Tampa’s practice squad.

Given Stevens’ previous history, this could be the end of the road for him in the NFL.
