Buffalo Bills release Matt Leinart

Matt Leinart likely knew his time in Buffalo would be short.

On Friday, he revealed on twitter that he had in fact been cut by the Bills' organization. However, he quickly took the tweet down. But that's not for anyone think the Bills have since reconsidered their standing with the former Heisman Trophy winner out of USC.

After a horrible game in Buffalo's blowout loss to Detroit Thursday night (3-10, 11 yards, two interceptions), Leinart's tweet afterward indicated he knew what was coming on Friday.

“Tough game. Tough situation. No excuses. [Thank] you to the Bills organization!” he wrote.

Leinart, a collegiate star, was taken in the first round of the 2006 draft by Arizona. After throwing for 2,547 yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 12 games as a rookie, he never saw the field much again. It remains to be seen if there is a suitor out there ready to take him on to start the regular season.
