Byrd wants Bills to trade him

Bills safety Jairus Byrd wants out of Buffalo via a potential trade, according to the Buffalo News.

Negotiations went nowhere for the Bills' unhappy franchise player and he can't be signed to a new deal under rules governing franchise players until after the season.

The league deadline to trade players is Oct. 29, which follows the eighth week of the season.

Byrd isn't healthy at this time, too. He has plantar fasciitis.

“It’s really a condition,” Bills coach Doug Marrone said. "Each guy is different in how they come back from it. Right now he’s working extremely hard to get back from it."

How does Byrd, who's making $6.9 million this season, feel about things? He's been mum for the most part.

“I’m going to leave the private matters of the business side between us,” Byrd said. “But I don’t really want to comment on other things.”
