Cam Newton breaks rookie passing record
Carolina Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton set a new record for passing yards by a rookie in a single season in the first quarter of Saturday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He broke Peyton Manning’s record of 3,739 passing yards with a seven-yard throw to Brandon LaFell. After the opening drive, Newton has 3,747 yards on the year. Newton went 3 for 3 on the Panthers' first possession for 20 yards that ended with a touchdown by DeAngelo Williams.
