Cardinals lose Iwebema for season

The Arizona Cardinals have placed defensive end Kenny Iwebema on injured reserve, ending his season after he suffered a right knee injury in Sunday’s overtime loss at Minnesota.

Losing Iwebema is a tough blow for the Cardinals and it impacts not only their line but special teams. It’s also a difficult blow for Iwebema, who had tumor removed from his chest during the offseason in 2009 and has dealt with health-related issues.

Taking his place on the 53-man roster is Cyril Obiozor, who the Cardinals have signed off the practice squad of the San Diego Chargers. He’s a linebacker who is known for standout play on special teams. He should be able to help in that area immediately.
