Cardinals make Larry Fitzgerald happy with Michael Floyd pick
Usually, it’s the quarterback that raves when the team adds a wide receiver with a high draft pick.
In this instance, it was the wide receiver that was praising the addition of the new wideout.
Larry Fitzgerald, the best player in the history of the Cardinals since their move to Arizona, implored the franchise to draft Notre Dame’s Michael Floyd and that is just what the club did Thursday night. The Cardinals will now pair Floyd with Fitzgerald in hopes they are as dynamic as Fitzgerald once was when he worked opposite Anquan Boldin.
“In this league you have to be able to beat press man coverage on third down," Fitzgerald told The Republic. "He is a big guy who has suddenness and can win on third down and make plays in the red zone."
The pair already has a strong relationship based on time spent together.
"It's exciting just knowing that he's on the opposite side of me, one of the best receivers in the game," Floyd. "It's a good learning experience for me to know when I get down there I'll be able to learn from one of the best."
Now, the Cardinals just need to solve their quarterback issue.
