Cardinals re-sign LB Beisel among other moves
The Arizona Cardinals re-signed veteran linebacker Monty Beisel today among a host of moves made by the club.
Having lost linebackers Karlos Dansby and Chike Okeafor already in free agency, the team needed to bring Beisel, an 11-year veteran, back in order to not have a completely bare cupboard. It’s expected that the Cardinals will place a high priority on linebacker in the draft, maybe even more so now that Joey Porter has been pinched for DUI in Bakersfield, Calif.
Beisel started last season with the Kansas City Chiefs but rejoined Arizona midway through the season. He’s a key contributor on special teams and that is a need area for the team too after Sean Morey departed in free agency for the Seattle Seahawks.
The Cardinals also announced that wide receiver Steve Breaston, defensive tackle Gabe Watson and center Lyle Sendlein signed their tender offers as restricted free agents. The Cardinals also signed cornerback Michael Adams, who was an exclusive rights free agent.
