Cardinals re-start search for defensive coordinator
The Arizona Cardinals have put the ball in motion to help fill out their coaching staff.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt was been biding his time waiting to talk to assistants from both teams in Super Bowl XLV. According to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, the Cardinals have officially requested permission to speak with at least two coaches and more requests could follow.
The Cardinals are believed to have asked to speak with Steelers’ assistants Dick LeBeau, Keith Butler and/or Ray Horton. LeBeau has said he will only coach in Pittsburgh if he doesn’t retire, but per the report Whisenhunt is expected to ask anyway.
Whisenhunt will also likely make a run at talking to Packers assistant coaches Winston Moss and Darren Perry. The only candidate Whisenhunt has met with to this point is Todd Bowles, the defensive backs coach for the Miami Dolphins.
