Chad Jones still on the long road to recovery

The long road back for Chad Jones remains just that.

But the LSU two-sport star that was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round is aggressively working to make a comeback in a football career that was derailed really before it got started. In the spring he was involved in a serious one-car accident in New Orleans that badly damaged his left leg. At one point, doctors thought he might lose the foot.

But Jones has steadily rehabbed and Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger has an update that includes some videos from Jones’ physical therapist John Moran of Southern Orthopaedic Specialists. He’s jogging on a treadmill and he can push off on his repaired left leg. He’s doing some agility drills too.

Whether or not Jones will be at a level again where he can play football in the NFL remains to be seen. The plan was for him to move his rehab to the team’s facility. With a lockout looming, soon no players will be allowed in the facility. It’s worth following because if Jones can make it all the way back, it will be a remarkable story.
