Chargers awarded Zach Mettenberger off waivers

The San Diego Chargers were awarded quarterback Zach Mettenberger off waivers. He was cut by the Tennessee Titans. He played for Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt with the Titans. They cut quarterback Bryn Renner. Mettenberger joins starter Philip Rivers and backup Kellen Clemens. Mettenberger played at LSU Mettenberger is a former sixth-round pick. He is 0-10 as a starter in the NFL. He's completed 60.3 percent of his throws for 12 touchdowns, 14 interceptions and a 75.4 passer rating.
