Chargers claim Joe Kruger, cut 11 players

The San Diego Chargers have claimed defensive lineman Joe Kruger off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kruger is a 6-foot-6, 290-pound former Eagles seventh-round pick. He spent last year on injured reserve.

He's the younger brother of Cleveland Browns outside linebacker Paul Kruger and played collegiately at Utah. He appeared in 37 games and recorded 69 tackles, nine sacks, 14 tackles for loss and an interception.

The Chargers cut 11 players, including Nick Becton, Zach Boren, Jake Byrne, Brelan Chancellor, Adrian Hamilton, Micah Hatfield, Darryl Johnson, Ryan Otten, Lowell Rose, Chase Tenpenny and Kerwynn Williams.
