Source: Chargers pick up $7.751 million fifth-year option for Melvin Ingram

The San Diego Chargers picked up a $7.751 million fifth-year option for outside linebacker Melvin Ingram. The Chargers exercised their right to do so for the 2016 season on April 1, according to an NFL source. NFL teams have until May 3 to do so with 2012 first-round draft picks Ingram was drafted in the first round in 2012 out of South Carolina. When healthy, Ingram has been a productive player.
