Checkup goes well for Todd Herremans

The Philadelphia Eagles are optimistic about the health of left guard Todd Herremans, who traveled to North Carilina on Thursday to have a checkup with a foot specialist.

Herremans has not been participating in practice lately. He had surgery on a hairline fracture in his foot last August and that led him to miss the first five games of the year.

"All is well," Herremans tweeted, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“The doctor thinks he'll be all right," coach Andy Reid said.

That is good news, but a routine checkup typically doesn’t include a flight from Philadelphia to Charlotee, N.C. The Eagles struggled with injuries on the offensive line last season and if they can find some continuity, that will be a big boost for young starting quarterback Kevin Kolb.

Herremans isn’t the only member of the line who has been missing. Center Jamaal Jackson, one of the best in the NFC, could open training camp on the physically unable to perform list as he works his way back from a torn ACL in his left knee. Getting a healthy Herremans will be a step in the right direction.
