Chester Pitts finally ready to work out for NFL teams
Veteran guard Chester Pitts surely hoped to be able to show NFL teams what kind of shape he was in before this week.
But the long and winding road back from microfracture knee surgery took longer than expected, and now Pitts will work out for interested teams on Tuesday in Arizona, according to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network.
Pitts played in every game for the Houston Texans in the first seven seasons of existence for the franchise. He played in the first two games last season before being shut down and requiring surgery. Now, Pitts, who turned 31 last month, is trying to catch on with a new team.
A few teams have been mentioned consistently with Pitts this offseason. That group indluces Detroit, Minnesota and Philadelphia. We’ll see where this heads, but right now Pitts would figure to need to sign a one-year contract where he can prove he’s healthy and ready to roll.
