Chiefs buy into Haley's new approach
It was the rival Oakland Raiders, whom the Kansas City Chiefs spanked 28-0 on Sunday, that coined the term "Just win, Baby."
But Chiefs coach Todd Haley has apparently adopted a version of that philosophy, growing a victory beard that is now four weeks (three wins and a bye) old, and spending more time interacting with his players since an 0-3 start that made the 2011 season look doomed.
Since that time, Haley has gotten lax with using his razor and has relaxed his approach to coaching as well. And the results have worked as Kansas City is now within one game of first place in the AFC West, tied with the Raiders, and behind only the San Diego Chargers.
"Maybe I was trying too hard,” Haley told the Kansas City Star. “I might’ve been … might’ve been trying too hard. Maybe I was worrying about the wrong things.”
He might have been worried about the wrong things before, but the Chiefs are now definitely heading in the right direction.
