Chiefs claim Kyle Orton

Kyle Orton landed in a spot where the Denver Broncos probably didn't want him to go when they put him on waivers, as he was claimed by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Orton was dumped on the waiver wire on Tuesday by the Broncos, after he had fallen to third string behind Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn. Orton and his agent, David Dunn, had reportedly sought his release with the hopes that he might land back in Chicago where Jay Cutler had suffered a broken thumb.

Instead, he comes to the Chiefs, who are just 4-6, but still in the AFC West race and in need of a quarterback after Matt Cassel suffered a season-ending hand injury.

Kansas City started Tyler Palko Monday night against New England and the Chief were pounded, 34-3.
