Chiefs get first win, despite Haley-Cassel screaming match
Apparently all it took to snap Matt Cassel and the Kansas City Chiefs out of their 0-3 funk was a sideline screaming match between the quarterback and head coach Todd Haley.
According to the Kansas City Star, Chiefs running back Le'Ron McClain had to get between the two on the sideline in Sunday's game to quell the verbal back-and-forth. After it was over, both Cassel and Haley said it was fine and, what was even better was that the Chiefs actually had their first win of the season, besting the winless Minnesota Vikings, 22-17.
“I seem to respond well when I’m pushed, when my back is up against the wall," said Cassel, whom many Chiefs fans were hoping to push out the door to make room for Andrew Luck.
That style seems to work best with Haley, who often yelled back and forth with his players in Arizona.
“Hey, I love it,” Haley said. Whatever works, I guess.
