Chiefs' kingdom will be without Cassel
The Kansas City Chiefs' cratering lows of the past two weeks might have just gotten a little bit lower with quarterback Matt Cassel's hand injury suffered in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Denver Broncos.
Cassel was unable to finish the game with a hand injury, and Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star said the fear is that Cassel might not be available when the Chiefs take on the quarterback's former team, the New England Patriots next Monday night. Cassel said the Chiefs trainers and doctors would not let him re-enter the game, and backup Tyler Palko finished up.
“I couldn’t go back into the game,” Cassel said. “I wanted to go in but was told not to. That’s what kept me out. The medical staff will evaluate as the week goes on.
“I’m ready to play every day. I’ll be ready Monday night unless I’m told otherwise.”
"Otherwise" just might be the Chiefs' biggest fear.
UPDATE: From Todd Haley's press conference, the Chiefs now fear that Cassel's hand injury will cause him to miss the remainder of the season.
