Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali voids, to hit free agency

Kansas City Chiefs outside linebacker Tamba Hali's contract has voided because the team didn't reach a contract extension with him by the close of business Friday. He'll now become an unrestricted free agent. Hali, 32, took a $3 million pay cut last year. They will be charged $4 million against the salary cap by keeping Hali on the roster. Hali had 48 tackles and 6 1/2 sacks and was named to his sixth Pro Bowl, but has ben battling knee injuries. Dee Ford is expected to replace Hali. Ford had 23 tackles and four sacks last season.
