Chiefs rule out Alex Smith with lacerated spleen

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has been ruled out for sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers with a lacerated spleen.

Smith got hurt against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Chase Daniel will start Sunday in his place. The Chargers can clinch a playoff berth with a win.

Daniel completed 21 of 30 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown in a loss to the Chargers last season in his lone NFL start.
