Chiefs take a shot with Jared Gaither

Jared Gaither will get a chance to re-start his career with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The team has signed him, according to Adam Schefter, a little less than two weeks after he nearly landed with one of their AFC West rivals.

The Oakland Raiders nearly signed Gaither at the outset of free agency before backing away. Gaither, a massive offensive tackle at 6-7, 340 pounds, sat out the 2010 season with the Baltimore Ravens because of a back injury.

If that was the reason the Raiders shied away, apparently the Chiefs are satisfied enough with his health to give him an opportunity.
