Chip Kelly downplays flap between Cooper, Williams

Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly downplayed the practice scrap between wide receiver Riley Cooper and cornerback Cary Williams.

The two got into a shoving match with Williams having to be restrained by quarterback Michael Vick.

Cooper later said the incident had nothing to do with him using the N-word at a Kenny Chesney concert, which caused him to be fined and have to undergo counseling.

"No fallout whatever," Kelly told reporters. "You've got two competitive guys. It was squashed pretty quickly."

However, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Williams used a racial slur during the incident.

"Do I think that was connected to what happened yesterday?" Kelly said. "No, not at all. No, I don't."

Williams isn't talking

"What happened in that 10 minutes didn't affect us for the rest of the practice," Vick said. "We all have brotherhood that extends far beyond football. It's something that happened. We cleared it up. I'd rather not even talk about it."

What about Williams' history of losing his cool?

"We've talked about it and hopefully [Williams] understands the ramifications," Kelly said. "It's a team game. Our whole deal that we talk about all the time is that you have to play with emotion and not let emotion play with you."
