Chris Conte to Buccaneers on one-year deal

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Chicago Bears safety Chris Conte to a one-year contract. Dashon Goldson will be released to save $4 million against the salary cap. He was due $8 million against the salary cap. Conte dealt with concussion problems in Chicago, but played for coach Lovie Smith with the Bears. He intercepted eight passes over the past three seasons. Conte had back, eye and shoulder injuries last season. He had two concussions last season. Conte was inactive for four games.
