Chris Cook feels like he has to earn trust of teammates

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook missed the final 10 games of the 2011 season when the team essentially placed him on leave as he faced domestic violence charges.

Cook was cleared in court last month and now he’s back in the mix but it’s been a rough patch for him as he was also arrested in 2011 for a handgun issue in Virginia. Charges were dropped in that matter, and now it’s time for Cook to make some headlines on the field at a position where the Vikings are thin.

I feel like I have to earn (my teammates') trust again,” Cook said , according to Jeremy Fowler of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “I definitely let them down last year by being in this situation I was in. I'm really looking forward to earning their trust and being a contributing factor on the team.”

Basically, Cook had not been around teammates from his October arrest until the beginning of the club’s voluntary offseason workout program two weeks ago. He received some texts and phone calls of support. Now, he’s not saying a whole lot. He wants to show that he belongs.

“There's not really too many words coming out," Cook said. "I feel like they're just watching me to see what I can prove to them."
